We are excited to have Jayne Kingston stop by today and share some thoughts on having your friends set you up. Make sure to comment and let her know what you think. . .
Do even our closest friends really know us well enough to choose our significant others?
That question came up again and again while I was writing Key Party, the first book in my Mischievous Matchmaker series. The premise for the series is this: one of a tight-knit group of three best friends fancies herself a pretty good matchmaker. She’s had a long streak of successful matches with some of her more casual acquaintances, which leads her to trying her hand at setting up her best friends.
And that’s where the fun begins, of course.
Throughout the process of writing this story, my mind went back to the handful of times when friends of mine tried to set me up with one guy or another. Invariably (in my case anyway) it turned out to be someone the friend of mine liked, or thought was hot at any rate, but couldn’t pursue themselves. They never worked out, and always for the same reason: most of my friends and I have completely opposite tastes in men, which meant the man in question was not—and was never going to be—my type.
I don’t let my friends so much as think about setting me up any longer. In fiction we can twist the scenario to work out however we want, but reality is an entirely different story, isn’t it?
So tell me single ladies (and gents if you’re reading this), would you trust your friends set you up with someone? Are you the matchmaker in your group? Do you have a successful blind date story you would like to share, because I would really love to hear it.

Bio
When Jayne Kingston was growing up she spent many hours daydreaming about a time when she could flee the too-small town in Ohio where she grew up and run laughing for the sunny West Coast. Of course she stuck around and raised her family in that small town instead, and doesn’t regret it for a moment. Now she spends her days dreaming about the delicious fun two people can have while falling in love.

Key Party- Book 1
Blurb
After five years of living abroad, Rachel has returned to Chicago. As a welcome-home present, one of her best friends throws a ‘70s-style key party. A night of mingling and anonymous sex with one of Petra’s hunky friends seems perfect.
Petra knows about the crush Rachel had on Ben in college, and she rigs the game so Rachel ends up with the very fine young doctor. But Petra doesn’t know the whole story. Rachel never told her friend about the scorching-hot make-out session that is now Rachel’s go-to sexual fantasy. And neither of them could know Ben is more than looking forward to showing Rachel every carnal moment she missed when she left without finishing what they’d started that night.
