Cougar Needs by Cooper McKenzie
During her girls-only weekend with her two best friends, Stacy Covey states she needs a hero who can love her and whom she can trust with her heart, body, and soul. Months later, when her car is vandalized in front of her house, she calls the police, not realizing that, with that one phone call, her life would change forever.
Police sergeant and cougar shifter KJ Katz has just about given up on finding his mate, until he arrives at the scene of a car break-in. As he approaches the house, he realizes that the mate he has been looking for all his adult life is inside.
After being hurt so many times in the past, will she let him into her future? Will she let him be her hero? Will he have a problem because she is eight years older than he is?
Cougar Needs is actually a very quick story that while at times seems to rush through relationship stages, is a very satisfying read that hits a lot of the right notes. Stacy hasn't always made good decisions in relationships and with her being an older woman, has pretty much given up on finding the hero she dreams about. KJ isn't having much lock either as he desires to find his mate, but it's just not happening.
When the two come together, KJ knows before he even meets her that she is the one for him. It is really sweet how he tries to take things slow even tho' his cat is itching to claim Stacy. There is some hot sex, some tense moments as Stacy is put in danger and a lovely romance between two well matched people. If you like shifters, heat, and trouble ~ pick up Cougar Needs and check out Stacy and KJ.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday memory was from last year. My mother had moved from NY (where I live) to FL 3 months before. My friends from work took me out to dinner. While we were having a few drinks at he bar before eating someone came up behind me and covered my eyes. I had no idea who it was. They removed their hands and let me turn around. It was my MOM!! She had flown in for a few days to come and surprise me for my birthday. Best birthday present I could have ever wished for.

Shifter stories are a new category for me, but I am finding them more and more enjoyable. The idea of an animal [or other being] of some sort being embedded in one's personality/being has always intrigued me. The shifter stories read to date have been both a surprise and delight. While I have never read one of Cooper's shifters, I am a fan of her writing [mainly Club Esoteria] and cannot wait to try out this flavor of story.

My favorite birthday memory is one birthday when I was 8 or 9 (I think) and my parents let me invite a bunch of people over, including all of my family, and everyone just ran around in the yard, jumped on the trampoline, got in and out of those plastic pools around the yard, ate homemade cake and ice cream that my mom made, and hit the pinata! It was super fun just to be a kid and run around with all of my friends on a great day that involved homemade yummy treats! Happy bday Ella and thanks for a great giveaway hop! kamclauc AT gmail DOT com
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Ella! Thanks for participating in the hop. I haven't read too many shapeshifter stories but I think it's cool to be able to change into something else.

My favorite birthday memory is when my 16-yr-old sister threw me a surprise 15th birthday party. I'd never had a party before and I'd looked forward to turning 15 forever (it was my favorite number and I could get my driver's license). I was completely surprised since she mostly was mean to me. This was a turning point for us; we have been best friends ever since.
ReplyDeleteAs for the shifter question: I love shifter stories. What I like best is the strength shifters possess, both in character and in physical presence. What I like least is that sometimes authors tend to get wrapped up in writing novellas and forget that a real plot with properly developed characters, world, and story line cannot always fit in such a tiny format.
Thanks for this opportunity. michelle_willms@yahoo.com; FB: Michelle Willms; Twitter: @willms_m
My favorite memory is last year when my ex and I got back together.
ReplyDeleteAs for shifters, I love them , I love how fiercely loyal they are to their pack and those they love.

ReplyDeleteThanks for taking part in the hop and the giveaway =)
What I don't like about shifter stories sometimes is how the shifter goes about trying to win over their mate. I don't mind inst-love or anything but I want it to be a bit believable.

Happy Birthday Ella and thank you for the hop & giveaway. In all the shifter stories I've read no one has been able to do the description of the change justice - not enough detail or something. Not saying the stories were bad bc not all of them were but I guess I wanted more.
